The communication skills of health care professionals can make their interactions with patients easier and bring about a better treatment result.
Medical professionals need to be good at both verbal and nonverbal communication.
Nonverbal behavior, such as facial expressions, voice tone, eye contact, hand movements and other gestures, often modifies what is spoken, expressing more about a person's thoughts and feelings.
Beside controlling their own nonverbal behavior, observing and interpreting the patient's nonverbal messages are essential skills for health care providers.
