Everyone is nervous when they go to an interview for a new job, but being prepared for the interview can really reduce your stress level when you walk in the door to the interview room. One way to prepare for an interview is to think about the typical questions which interviewers ask.

Probadly, the most frequently asked question in any job interview is not really a question at all. It is the request, "Tell me about yourself." The interviewer's purpose in asking this question is to get information related to work and to the job opening. (1)Some people make the mistake of taking this request literally, and answering by giving their life history. In fact, the best points to focus on when answering this question are past work experience, education, and extracurricular activities.

Another very common question that comes up in interviews is "Why do you want to work for this company?"
(2)The surest way to get your name crossed off the candidate list for a job is by not having an answer to this question. If you don't have an answer ready for this question, you are letting the interviewer know that you haven't done much research about the company or the job you are interviewing for.

次の英文の下線部(a)と(b)を日本語に訳しなさい。
Eating out is an ancient product of urbanism. (a)Its origins were not so much a desire for "fast food” as a means of providing cooked dishes for the poorer people who lacked the time and technologies to prepare food at the places where they slept.

Ancient Rome had a population of more than a million by 100 BC. Most of the city's people lived in tenements and had no access to the bulky ovens and hearths needed to bake bread or make porridges and gruels. The poor had little choice but to purchase their food on the street or at the market or bazaar, whereas for the wealthy the staging of a banquet in their own houses was a vehicle for displaying their good fortune and their pretensions.

次の英文の下線部(1)(2)を日本語に直せ。
There are many differences in creation myths around the world, but there are also some striking similarities. For one thing, their imagery often comes from the idea of a supreme craftsman.
(1)The beauty of the natural world is represented as the work of a skilled craftsman, instances of which are found in all cultures.
Another common image is the growth of order from chaos, mirroring the progressive organization of human society. Yet another parallel is the universe as a biological process.
(2)The most striking examples of this occur in myths that describe the universe as forming from an egg or seed.
